Sutlej net up 365%

Sutlej Textiles and Industries Ltd., a KK Birla company, has reported a net profit of Rs.11.21 crore on sales of Rs.169.42 crore for the quarter to June 30, 2006 against a profit of Rs.2.41 crore on sales of Rs.133.67 crore for the same quarter of the previous year.

  Sutlej , an integrated player in the textile industry with a presence from yarns to fabrics  and garments, has a spinning capacity of 1.63 lakh spindles in its two spinning units.

 The company said market conditions remained favourable  in the latest quarter.  The additional weaving capacity of 1.5 million metres per annum was installed in the last quarter of financial 2005-06 and went operational in the latest quarter.

  Sutlej is implementing several projects, both at existing sites and new ones.  Among these is a plant for home furnishings, another for making trousers.
